Graduating in Social Sciences and Administration from London School of Economics in 1977, Suzanne Lucas subsequently trained as an RGN at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, gaining post-registration experience in orthopaedics.
Suzanne spent five years as a diabetes education consultant with Becton Dickinson.
Between 1986 and 2004, Suzanne worked at Diabetes UK, latterly as Director of Research and Care. She now works as an independent consultant.
Suzanne was a member of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) Obesity Evidence Based Guideline Development Group and previously was involved in the production of the Type 2 Guidelines for diabetes.
Suzanne has extensive experience at both regional and national level of the development and delivery of structured patient education programmes in diabetes, including being a Director and Lead Auditor for the Quality Institute for Self-Management Education and Training (QISMET) and National PITstop Training initiatives.
An experienced presenter, facilitator, chair and project manager, Suzanne has presented and published both nationally and internationally.
