A staggering third of people in the UK are either living with diabetes, have pre-diabetes, or are at increased risk of diabetes. This would be a mirror image in workforces across the country, which over time will be a financial burden.

It is estimated that 199,100 diabetics work within the UK construction industry. The illness presents great risks to daily life, with black outs, impaired vision, impaired balance and fatigue being some of the symptoms. Despite such risks, Diabetes UK claims that a recent survey of theirs shows the illness is not taken seriously in Britain.
We would like to thank the APS for having us at their yearly conference and to everyone who came to speak to us on the day. We had a great day talking to people about Diabetes Safety and how we can make the industry safer and save lives.
The association between diabetes and depression has been well known for at least three decades. Major advances in the past two decades have improved understanding of the biological basis for the relationship between depression and diabetes.
Diabetes is an invisible condition which poses a huge yet unregulated risk to many people on a day to day basis and continues to grow. As part of our efforts to tackle the diabetes epidemic, the Diabetes Safety Organisation is working with international law firm, Gowling WLG.
The Diabetes Safety Organisation is an official partner of the Wellbeing in Construction Summit brought to you by UK Construction Week, which looks at strategies on improving physical wellbeing, personal and mental ill-health within the workplace and amongst construction employees. The event will take place on 2 July in ExCeL, London.
